CLEAVER Artisan Appliances was launched in Australia in 2016 with one simple idea…to create a collection of quality curing cabinets for the home salumi maker.

So, who is the face behind CLEAVER?

My name is Dave Cann. I am deeply passionate about food, cooking and sharing with friends and family. I live on a little land in rural Victoria with my family, our chickens and sheep. My wife, Michelle and I are the owners and founders of String & Salt, a kitchenware and homeware store and cooking school in Warragul. I love cooking and curing with quality spices and act as chief spice blender for our other small business, Spice Oddity. We are blessed to have an amazing team of staff helping with these two businesses.

As we grow as a business, I know it won’t always be just me behind these jobs, but I truly hope that the small business, hands-on, personal approach continues to remain in our DNA. It is what sets us apart from other appliance brands.

I would like to say a huge thank you to a bunch of people who we could not have come this far without; our customers. Without those of you who were prepared to give us a go as a start-up we could not have continued this little operation. Big thanks.

But when it comes to CLEAVER, it’s more of a one-person operation. I am the founder, inventor, designer, tester, technician and chief problem solver.

I am responsible for the manual, the recipes, the technical advice and instructions for use of our cabinets. I also handle the logistics, send out the invoices, pay the bills and even do some of the deliveries personally.

I am the voice on the end of the CLEAVER phone help line . I'm pretty good at helping you to troubleshoot any issues you may have while getting to know your CLEAVER. If I can’t help you over the phone, I'll be there to service your cabinet or make the arrangements for a service or even a replacement.

It’s also me behind the social media and marketing and supporting our growing number of wonderful CLEAVER Agents across Australia.
